Heaven
Again I sit here with my mind restless- running full of ideas and thoughts [that's status quot for me] and my heart heavy.
Travis' Uncle Tom has gone to be with Jesus after years of battling various illnesses. He passed away 6:29pm 01/03/2011 surrounded by family at his home.
When I first moved to Shelbyville from Indianapolis in 2005- Brenda [Travis' aunt] and Tom were some of the first people I met. And they both [instantly] fell in love with Micah [much like people do]. They treated her as if, maybe better, then they treated their own family. Micah and Tom used to ride around on his power chair and eat lots of honey buns. They would go "fishing" in the creek and play outside. She was his "baby girl". And now- he's at home with sweet Jesus.
This pains me. Not just for me. Or Travis. Or Tom's family. But for Micah. This is one funeral that is going to be extremely hard for me, because of her. She's 6 now- so death is more of a reality for her. This is one death that will actually be close to her and may just break her heart. And I'm not sure my heart can handle her tears this time around.
Well that brings me to the topic at hand. Heaven. Paradise. Where we are promised if we live a life that is good and pure- and we put our full trust/heart/soul in God. Heaven was the last thing on my mind- until last night. And now I can't get my mind off of it.
Country singer Buddy Jewell had a song years ago- called "Help Pour Out the Rain (Lacey's Song)". The song is about a girl playing 20 questions with her father during a car ride- and the questions turned to Heaven.
She said: "Daddy, when we get to Heaven, can I taste the Milky Way?
"Are we goin' there to visit, or are we goin' there to stay?
"Am I gonna see my Grandpa? Can I have a pair of wings?
"An' do you think that God could use another Angel,
"To help pour out the rain?"
And much like the child in this song- I have so many questions. Questions that I wish were answered. What is it like? Who's there? Do we know we're there when we get there? Do we get to be with Jesus all day? Or our loved ones?
But I know they be answered can't until I get there.
So for now- I am going to hang my hat on the thought- that as long as I keep God in my heart. I keep doing His work. I keep my kids on the right path. I continue to proclaim that Jesus is Lord. And keep God first- then I will make it to that place.
Were I get to meet Jesus face to face, bask in His glory- maybe get a cool pair of angel wings and help pour out the rain.
Rest in peace with Sweet Jesus, Uncle Tom. We love you and miss you so much already. Keep an eye on your "baby girl", and always know how much she loved you. Can't wait to see you soon.

Day by Day
Today has very much been a Godspell lyric day for me.

This is one of my FAVORITE musicals of all time [behind Grease of course]. The basic story [for those who haven't seen it or heard of it] is based on the gosepl of Matthew [from the Bible]. It contains parables [prodigal son, Lazarus] set to music- and at the very end- it contains a passion of the Christ.
From this musical comes on of my favorite songs, "Day by Day". I don't know why- but it always gets my toes tapping and my heart fluttering. I always feel the need to do motions and sing loudly [much to the embarrassment of my family].
Day by day
Day by day
Oh Dear Lord
Three things I pray
To see thee more clearly
Love thee more dearly
Follow thee more nearly
Day by day
Even though these lyrics are from a popular musical and spent time on the Billboard Music charts- I think this song is music for my soul. I mean- who doesn't need these 3 things. And they seem so simply. See-love-follow. How hard is that?
Ok. I know. Hard.
Because it is extremely hard for me. The hardest of those instructions is follow. It is very hard to follow something you can't see. And in the dark at that. God doesn't give us very much info when He asks us to do something. We are to say okay immediately to His prompt and then wait for further instructions. Now I'm a person who likes to know all of the info up front- right away. The older I get- I realize God just doesn't work that way. He likes to tell us what we need to know- when we need to know it.
Today. Everyday. All day.
Day by day.
That is something I am working on very hard this year. Taking things one day at a time. Not looking too far forward and focusing on the future, and not taking care of the present. I am taking this life day by day- and seeing-loving-following my dear Lord.
[thanks Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak for writing a contemporary-amazing-fun take on the gospel of Matthew- it is a musical that I can not only sing and dance with- but worship with]

Restless Mind
I have a super restless mind today. It is running all over the place. To and fro. I have thought about everything. And when I say everything [I mean it].
So far today- [and it's a little after 11am] my mind has contemplated:
So far today- [and it's a little after 11am] my mind has contemplated:
- my cleaning schedule that I haven't tackled it yet
- why is it so cold in my house?
- why does my husband complain so much when it's cold [put on a jacket!]
- why my 2 year old is so incredibly loud?
- why are we tickalish?
- ^ did I just spell tickalish right?
- why is puppy Jack so needy?
- why did I get a new puppy?
- how much sleep am I going to miss when I start my second job?
- shopped for Micah's new bedroom furniture [I love Pottery Barn Kids]
- shopped for furniture for my living room
- mentally re-painted my living room again
- oh- and thought of something to blog [day 3 of 3]
I wish my mind wasn't running 100 miles a minute today. I actually wanted to relax [one of my goals for the new year].
Well day 2 of the new year has been great so far [as long as my mind slows down for just a second :)]

New Year Resolutions
At the end of every year I make a list of things I am hoping to accomplish during the new year. A new start. A time where I can start fresh- and actually get things done. Instead of looking back and feeling guilty for what I did not get done. A time where I can get my priorities straight and get things done. Be proactive.
And this year is no different.
Wait, it is different. This year, instead of like years past, I am actually going to get things done. I am not going to make the list- and let it collect dust. And then at the end of said year, look back at what I didn't accomplish and feel guilty [it's such a viscous cycle].
This year, I am going to do it. Make a list of things I can actually accomplish, and get them done [correction: git er done].
And high on that list- is keeping up with my blog. I will start with a couple of days a week- and hopefully will get into a routine- where I blog 5-6 out of 7 days. I think I can do it [ I can do it- not I think].
Writing used to be such a passion of mine- and I let that go by the wayside when I had kids- and got a life outside of myself. My time to write will be mine. And I will not let that go. Not this year.
I am going balls to the wall this year. 2011 better be ready for me. I am not going to let the past get me down. I am shedding the past [just like the pounds I'm hoping to shed]. 2011- is going to bring a new me. 26. Mature. Driven. Goal-oriented. Family-focused. I am going to do it [bring it on].
Happy New Year to all of you. Hope you are blessed with patience, prosperity, love and lots of smiles and laughter. The only way it can be a good year, is if you make it that way.

Jealous
"Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, he who seeks finds and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." Matthew 7: 7-9
So I got a new car. Okay, when I say new, I truly mean, new to me. Traded in my van for a 2004 Grand Prix GTP. I had a Grand Prix last year- but Travis got into a car accident last July and it was totaled. I loved that car. There was just something about it. After the car got totaled, we got the van as a replacement. I'm not saying that I didn't like the van- it served its purpose, but my heart was always set on a car. I've been shopping in my mind for a new car since I got it. Well, there was this car. Name her Peaches if you will. And she stole my heart. She's maroon, like Stella (my old one). She's a Grand Prix, like Stella. And she's beautiful like Stella. And she's m i n e!
So- why is this titled jealous? Because I'm tired of people assuming things about me. I'm tired of people thinking that I don't struggle like everyone else? Oh but I do. Struggle a lot. But let me tell you. I work for what I have. I struggle for what I have. But on top of all of that, I pray for what I want. I ask- I seek- I knock. And sometimes I receive. Other times I don't. Sometimes the door is opened- and other times it isn't. Sometimes I find what I am looking for- and other times it's hidden far away. But the point is- I ask. And I pray- hard. I am disappointed when I don't get what I think I should. And rejoice when blessings come my way. I love the relationship I have with God and can't wait to see the blessings that He has in store for me down the road. Ask. Seek. Knock. And have faith that He knows what is the best thing for you. When He says no, that may be because something greater will happen, or that it wasn't the best thing for you at the time. If you just put it all in His hands, then you can be guaranteed that the best things in you life will happen. But you have to first put it in His hands, then leave it there.
(And don't be jealous- just ask for your own blessings)
